Navigate 3.2.1 Tools for deciding on an LMS
In a k-12 environment the site needs to be secure and user friendly.  Typically a school system will be going with a commercial market, which I believe is the best for meeting the needs of a large organization. Budget and licensing is a factor when shopping for an LMS system. Also does the LMS allow for flexibility and growth to meet the needs and changes as growth begins in the school. Looking at different models one needs to decide which is best for functionality of delivering content, assessments, synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.

Looking at different options some of the top ten are:
1. Blackboard
2. Desire2Learn
3. Canvas
4. Pearson Learning Studio
5. McGraw Hill Connect
6. Sakai
7. Moodle
8. ConnectEDU
9. Mindtap
10. Jenzabars

Georgia Virtual School already uses D2L as do a variety of other virtual institutions. It allows for flexibility and growth that is needed for the functions of the students and organization.
