1.1.2 Digital Learning Communities

Digital learning communities truly vary in style, subject, and authenticity. As a virtual school we can enhance and create our own in house learning communities for students. Looking at the sources my favorite was the Khan Academy. The legitimacy of this organization is high standing. The data driven resources for students and teachers shows how to enhance a student's learning and see their growth using the website. Khan Academy is beginning to grow as an influential resource for students for tutoring on specific subjects and topics and I really see the potential in that. It is not a resource for students to just gather answers, but truly learn.

Encouraging students to attend communities such as Khan would be beneficial if they have missed a lesson or did poorly on a specific content area. It would allow them focused remediation on specific content driven information.
